Press Release-Kennedy: 30 Million Seniors and Counting

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Mark Kennedy made this statement after the news that, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 30 million seniors in the United States have signed up for the new prescription drug benefit.

"This is great news for every senior who depends on prescription drugs in their everyday lives," said Congressman Kennedy. "Now that the benefit has taken effect, the average low-income senior in Minnesota stands to save 90% on their prescription drug costs, and the average income senior stands to save 44%."

"I had the opportunity to sit with seniors in Buffalo today, and hear about their experiences with the new prescription drug benefit," Kennedy continued. "They had great news to share: more choices and flexibility, and savings of up to $150 a month, or $1,800 a year. I encourage seniors to explore their options, and sign up before the deadline next month."
